Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas St. Mary's

Lab 6, our final lab at St. Mary's School.

Reflection:
It was a Merry Christmas indeed at St. Marys. There was snow on the ground and parachutes in the air. I was in the PRE K group this week. I had the arts and crafts and what I had them do is color in Christmas Ornaments and put their names on them and glue them on the Christmas tree I made on a poster board with markers. It was a great success, most of the kids did one. The best thing I feel like I got out of this was a little girl didn't know how to write her name so I showed her how to write it and she practiced it and did it. I feel like I accomplished something indeed by helping her write her name and learning some letters. The activities we did in the gym were good, we came up with stations and had the kids do each station many times. We also did some parachute activities, I think some of the kids were getting restless because some of them didn't want to listen. All in all, it was a fun day at St. Mary, I am so sad it was the last day. I learned so much from St. Marys that I will put forward in my teaching career.

Gobble Gobble, St. Mary's

Lab 6 was a Turkey Day for the children at St. Mary's.

Reflection:
It was a fun day at St. Mary's. We saw the children work on their dribbling and kicking skills. Let me tell you that they surprised me, I think for the most part they were all doing a decent job doing it. I was in the cafeteria group this week and that consist of the upper grades. In the cafeteria we all played seven up, that was a game I haven't played in a while, I am not really good at it that is probably why I haven't a while. When we went up to the gym, it was hard getting them to play our games because they just wanted to do their own thing. But we tried and even though I don't think we succeeded. We TRIED and I think that is the most important thing you can do. If you don't try how do you know if it is going to work or not? In the beginning of trying to get them to play we tried to get their attention saying you want to play an amazing game and some did and we did play for a little while but they got bored and we ended up played basketball and soccer for most of the time. I like when Justen modified the chicken dance to the turkey dance I thought that was pretty fun.

Halloween @ St. Mary's

A Scary Halloween Lab 4 at St. Marys
Reflection:
It was a great Halloween day at St. Mary's. I dressed up as a ninja and the kids liked it, they all wanted to play with me and have my attention. We started out observing the two students for catching and throwing and both did better than I expected. By the time we were done with that my group, the Pre-K, were outside in the playground, We played a great game of freeze tag and just running having a good time. I wasn't able to do my activity  because we were short on time. They had snack and afterward did Nicole's activity in coloring in a plate that was shaped like a pumpkin and they also colored. I was a little annoyed because we didn't have time to do my activity, this week's lab when by so quick we didn't have time to do our activities in the gym with the Pre-K but it was still a good time. We ended with a  great tag game, a very creative song, and a halloween cheer. I think I did a better this week, I projected my voice when I was outside and had everyone's attention when playing tag outside.

SUPER day at St. Mary's. (LAB 3)

It was superhero theme today at St.Mary's.

Reflection:
I felt like today was going to be a great day at St. Mary's. All in all, it was pretty amazing, I dressed up as a superhero and the kids responded to that in a positive way. Teaching in the gym wasn't as what I thought it would be today, I felt like me and my group didn't have a lot of control, they were running all over the place, but that is good because they have all the energy and this is what they needed to release it. But when we were trying to get their attention they didn't want much of it. I think we were successful in completing the task we had but it was hard. Other than the gym, going outside and in the cafeteria was fun, we played kickball outside and they really got into it, as for the cafeteria they ate their snack and then played a few games of seven up. When we played in the gym again we played games like football and baseball and I realized how I stink at jump roping and hula hooping. I think what I have learned from this day is to find other ways of getting the children's attention maybe a whistle and also practice to talk LOUD so the whole gym can hear me.
